How to Apply for Google AdSense and Get Your Blog Approved (Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners)

A warm digital illustration of a beginner blogger happily setting up Google AdSense on a laptop, surrounded by notification symbols and money icons.
Are you ready to start earning from your blog through Google AdSense, but confused about where to begin? Don’t worry. In this post, I’ll walk you through the **step-by-step process** to apply for Google AdSense and get approved — even if you are a complete beginner!

This guide is based on my own recent experience applying for AdSense on my blog www.LifeWithSathyanand.com.

---

Step 1: Create a Quality Blog
Before applying for AdSense, make sure:
- You have a custom domain (like www.yourblogname.com)
- Your blog looks neat and professional (choose themes like Contempo or Emporio)
- Minimum 6–10 helpful, original posts (each 800+ words)
- Your blog should be **at least 2 weeks old**

πŸ’‘Tip: Don’t copy content from others. Write in your own style.

---

Step 2: Add Required Pages
Google wants to know that your blog is real and trustworthy. So add these pages:
- About
- Contact
- Privacy Policy
- Disclaimer (optional, but good)

You can write these pages yourself or use templates online and modify them.

---

Step 3: Enable Crawlers and Indexing
In Blogger:
1. Go to **Settings > Privacy**
2. Enable **"Visible to search engines"**
3. Under **Crawlers and Indexing**, turn ON both options and enable **Custom robots.txt**
4. Submit your sitemap:
   - Go to Google Search Console
   - Add your domain
   - Submit this sitemap:
     `sitemap.xml`

---

Step 4: Connect Google Analytics
This is optional but recommended.
- Create a GA4 property
- Copy the code
- Paste it inside the `<head>` section in **Edit HTML**

It helps track visitors and shows Google that your blog has real traffic.

---

Step 5: Apply for AdSense
Now it’s time to apply!
1. Go to [https://www.google.com/adsense/start](https://www.google.com/adsense/start)
2. Sign in with your Google account
3. Enter your blog URL (with www)
4. Choose your country and accept terms
5. Submit your application

You’ll get a publisher ID like: `ca-pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx`

---

Step 6: Place the Ad Code in Your Blog
1. In AdSense, go to **Ads > Overview**
2. Copy the **Auto Ad** code
3. In Blogger:
   - Go to **Theme > Edit HTML**
   - Paste the code just below `<head>`

It will look like this:
`<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?..."></script>`

✅ Don’t forget to click **Save** after pasting.

---

Step 7: Add ads.txt file
1. Go to Blogger > Settings
2. Scroll to **Monetization > Enable custom ads.txt**
3. Paste this line:
`google.com, pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0`

(Change the pub ID to your own)

Then verify ads.txt status inside AdSense after 24–48 hours.

---

Step 8: Wait for Approval
After setup:
- Google will review your blog
- It usually takes 1–14 days
- Check AdSense dashboard for status

🚫 Don’t click on your own ads.
✅ Keep posting quality content during this review period.

---

πŸ’‘ Final Tips to Get Approved:
- No copied content
- Clear navigation and mobile-friendly layout
- Post regularly
- Avoid spammy design (no popups, too many redirects)
- Check your site loads fast and has no broken links

---

Conclusion:
Getting AdSense approval is 100% possible even for beginners if you follow the right steps. Don’t rush. Focus on **quality, clarity, and consistency**.
